Become a Colorado NRA Instructor! & Colorado Concealed Carry Weapons Instructor
Start Your Own Colorado Firearms Training Business!
Are you thinking about starting your own firearms training business? Have your friends asked you to teach them how to use their guns? Do you know how to teach? What to teach? When to teach and when not too?
These are just six (6) important reasons to consider opening a firearms safety business.
First, you like it (that's the important part); secondly, you want everyone to be
safe and responsible;
third, you believe everyone
has the right
to defend themselves anytime, anywhere there is a threat to friends and family; the rest can be taught.
As a Colorado Certified NRA Instructor
you have the opportunity to train others in the safe handing of firearms. You are recognized as a certified trainer from a national organization that is never, ever, questioned - that's a
HUGE
acknowledgment! We encourage you to teach others how to be safe and how to use their firearms responsibly.
, you teach others how to carry and conceal their firearm while in public and away from home, but you need the knowledge, skills, attitude, and ability to do so.
The
Colorado NRA instructor
has the primary goal of teaching others to use their firearms safely while the
National Rifle Association Basic Instructor Training (BIT) Course
Prerequisites: NONE
(sort of...)
The
NRA Basic Instructor Training Course (BIT for short)
teaches the basic
knowledge, skills, and attitude
necessary to teach any of the NRA's disciplines - the BIT is not a discipline in itself but rather a
teaching methodology
that is applied to any skill or discipline you want to teach, e.g.: Pistol, Rifle, Personal Protection. This is the core class that teaches how to understand lesson plans, how to teach a discipline, and how to ensure 100% consistency across the board when teaching a NRA course.
The NRA instructor methodology is valid for a two (2) year period.
In other words, if you have attended a BIT within two (2) years of learning a new discipline, you are considered to be a valid instructor who is up-to-date with the NRA's methodology for teaching. If your last BIT class is over two (2) years old, you
must
attend a current BIT to teach a new discipline.
The BIT is offered with all disciplines but, because it is a 8+ hour course, it cannot be taught on the same day as the discipline you are attempting to achieve. Typically, the BIT is offered on "Day 1" of a course and then the discipline course is taught on "Day 2". If you are "current" on your BIT instruction you can "skip" day one (1) and simply attend the discipline course on "Day 2". Therefore, all classes and fees listed below assume you have a current BIT; if you do not, or if you need to update your BIT, you will need to signup for this class before attending a new discipline course. The BIT classes listed in the drop-down menu are associated with their proper disciplines and BIT classes as required.
This is very important - if you do not have a current NRA BIT Certification, the NRA
will not
recognize the discipline course you have signed up to attend. You
must
bring your NRA Instructor Certification Card to Class so we may validate you are holding a current BIT as a prerequisite. If you cannot provide current credentials we will have no option other than to ask you to retake the BIT BEFORE attending the class!
If you have any questions regarding your BIT certification status, we encourage you to contact us prior to paying for any new classes. We cannot stress enough if you are not current on your BIT the NRA will not provide certification.
