Students who register for the Colorado NRA Personal Protection in the Home (PPITH) class are interested in protecting their family, home, and surroundings responsibly.  This is an advanced training course. Therefore, we ask that all students have attended and successfully passed the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting class.  The classes take you beyond the normal operations of a firearm into residential personal defense concepts including situational awareness, cover & concealment, when to use deady force, creating a safe room, handling interactions with the law enforcement, legal and emotional aftermath.

The class includes a review of the judicial use of a firearm in Colorado.  Those interested in the legal interpretation of specific laws should consult a local attorney within their state.

ADVANCED CLASS!
NRA Home Firearm Safety
The NRA Range Safety Officer program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally recognized range safety officer certification.  NRA Range Safety Officers are people who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.

NRA Range Safety Officers must be 21 years of age or older.

It is highly recommended that firearms instructors complete this credential if they plan to take groups of students to the range.  Not only does this give the instructor knowledge of range emergency procedures, but many ranges require an RSO be present if using the range for lessons.

This course does not encompass the functions and responsibilities of a Range Officer who conducts NRA competition shooting events as defined by Rule 11.5 of the NRA Rule Book.
