Colorado NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home Course
The Colorado NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home Course is a comprehensive and intensive class which teaches
students the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe, effective, and
responsible use of a concealed pistol for self-defense outside the home.
This course begins with a basic review of safe firearms handling and proper mindset to knowing when and how to present a
pistol from their concealed carry holster, purse, or handbag. The course teaches essential skills and techniques needed to
prevail in a life threatening situation.
NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home Course
is divided into two levels, basic and advanced. The basic level
course teaches the essential knowledge and skills that must be mastered in order to carry, store, and use a firearm safely and
effectively for personal protection outside the home. Students should expect to spend additional time at the range firing
approximately 100 rounds of ammunition.
Upon completion of the basic course level, students may choose to attend the advanced level stage, which features additional
range time, training, and teaches advanced shooting skills. This includes additional range time with approximately 100+ rounds
of additional ammunition.
NRA Basics of Personal Protection Outside the Home
is for adult individuals who are not disqualified from possessing
a firearm as defined by applicable federal, state, and local law and are of good repute and possesses defensive pistol skills
use of a firearm as a self-defense, personal protection plan. Students must observe firearm safety rules and principles that apply
to specific defensive situations.
