Beginner AR-15 Rifle Class in Texas
Designed for the beginning AR-15 rifle shooter who has not received formal training in the safe, responsible, and proper handling of a semi-automatic or manual rifle.

AR-15: Basic AR-15 Rifle Training

This class is for students who have attended our Level 1 Basic AR-15 Rifle Training Class. This class builds on top of the basic skills taught during the introduction class. For safety purposes, the Basic AR-15 class must be attended prior to attending this class.

This class introduces the many options available to the AR-15 Rifle owner and prepares the student for advanced techniques taught in our advanced AR-15 rifle class.

.This class builds on top of basic and intermediate skills taught during the prerequisite classes. For safety purposes, the Basic AR-15 class as well as the Intermediate AR-15 class must be attended prior to attending this class.

This class introduces students to the judicial use of an AR-15 rifle for home defense. An overview of current Idaho laws are discussed and additional shooting techniques are introduced.

AR-15 II: Personal Defense AR-15 Rifle Class

Role-playing is an important part of instructor training, therefore, the minimum class size should be at least four students with additional students encouraged. Students will take turns working in teams and conduct portions of the training curriculum to understand how to teach their students.
Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.
Teach the NRA Basic Firearm Training Courses according to the lesson plans and standards of the National Rifle Association. It is not designed to prepare you to teach other firearm training courses, nor to prepare you to develop firearms training courses on your own.
The NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home Instructor Course aka NRA PPOTH Instructor Course teaches students how to safely carry a concealed weapon in public. Levels of awareness are taught to identify potential threats, extensive holster work is performed to present from cover, identifying cover and concealment options and more.
Students will learn to shoot effectively with one hand, using the dominant hand and/or the non-dominant hand. We will work on mental conditioning to prepare the student to effectively deal with a sudden threat to their life or the life of another.
To be certified as an NRA Instructor, students must complete this 6-hour course that teaches material common to all NRA courses. This course does not certify the instructor candidate to teach any NRA courses. Additional discipline-specific instructor training is required to certify instructor candidates to teach specific courses.
Most instructor courses are discipline specific. During training students will learn about policies and procedures; improve public speaking skills; training methodologies; work in teams; learn about training aids; organize a course, prepare a budget; and learn how to instruct in a helpful and meaningful manner.

Houston Texas Home Firearm Safety Instructor Course
Level 1 Firearms Defensive Pistol Instructors are qualified to teach in the following disciplines: Safety and Firearm Awareness; Ready Positions; Fundamentals; Malfunctions; Live Fire Progression Drills; Tactical Reloads; Drawing from a Holster; Low Light/No Light Shooting; Tactical Reload while holding a Light; Tactical reloads when the strong arm is impaired; Key Components to Carry a Concealed Firearm; Carry Options and Real World Scenario Based Training.
Days 2 and 3 are the discipline-specific days, and will begin with the Pre-Course Qualification described. The course length will vary according to discipline (Rifle is 10 hours, Pistol is 11 hours, Shotgun is 11 hours, and Home Firearms Safety is 5 hours listed hours are minimums and may be exceeded, if necessary).
Since 1871, a major objective of the National Rifle Association has been to provide education and training in the safe and proper use of firearms.
Please remember NRA Instructor Courses are performance based courses, Instructor Candidates must possess the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for this level of training. You do not pay and automatically pass Instructor training. You pay to have the opportunity to pass.
Instructor Training Courses help you develop the additional knowledge, skills and techniques needed to organize and teach firearm courses - our Flash Point Precision Training Course will help you develop these skills.
The NRA Training Counselor who conducts your course will make a recommendation to NRA concerning your certification based on an evaluation of your knowledge, skills, and attitude. You will be asked to demonstrate your organizational and teaching skills through participation in several practical exercises during the course of your training.

Level 1 Firearms Training | Texas Gun Training
The NRAs Basic Pistol Shooting Instructor Course is a 10 hour course that teaches instructor candidates how to teach the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooing in person in a classroom environment.
The Flash Point Precision Training Instructor Program will be led by the Level 1 Firearms Development Team, which includes Level 1 Firearms Instructors certified to teach the Flash Point Precision methodologies.
A complete NRA Instructor Training Course consists of two parts. The first is basic instructor training, which consists of 6 hours of instruction. The second part is discipline-specific instructor training, which consists of an additional 5 to 14 hours of instruction per discipline. For example, an NRA Instructor Training Course in rifle, pistol, and shotgun lasts at least 40 hours.
Courses are conducted in a skill building manner, beginning with basic instructor training. Students then go on to learn a specific discipline and how to present that as an instructor. Students demonstrate organizational skills, teaching skills, participate in practical exercises, and pass an instructor examination scoring 90% or higher.

Houston Texas NRA Personal Protection in the Home Course
Level 1 Firearm Instructors must be at least 21 year of age and not be restricted from possessing a firearm. Participants will receive classroom instruction and practical shooting exercises using our unique Flash Point Precision Training methodology.
NRA Certified Instructors provide an invaluable service in their communities by training hundreds of thousands of individuals annually. As firearm and shooting activities expand, and more Americans choose to exercise their right to carry a firearm, so too grows the need for these courses.
Dallas Texas NRA Basic of Pistol Shooting Instructor Course
The course is to provide the student with a solid foundation in basic knowledge of handgun safety, various types of handguns, an understanding of ammunition and how it functions, shooting fundamentals and an introduction to defensive shooting skills.
Austin Texas NRA PPOTH Instructor Course
All courses include the required NRA documentation, instructor guides, student packets, instruction and follow up support. You will receive everything needed to first take and then teach each course. Note: There will be processing fees payable to the NRA due upon the completion of class. Fee's are determined by how many and which courses you attend.
Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills is a perquisite for firearm instructor certification. Students attending an instructor course will pass a qualification test, a written and oral test, and demonstrate safe firearm handling before they are admitted to the course.
Students will learn discipline specific instructional methods for pistol, rifle, shotgun, and other personal protection teaching methods while evaluating and improving the performance of beginning shooters.
A person new to the use of a firearm for personal defense typically has a broad range of questions and is faced with learning a number of skills that are critical in the use of a firearm in this case a handgun to defend themselves, their family or someone in their charge.
The NRA Instructor Training Course is designed to teach you how to teach others to shoot using NRA lesson plans and training methods. You will need to demonstrate your firearms proficiency during the Pre-Course Assessment.
The Shotgun Instructor Course teaches instructors how to teach the Basics of Shotgun Shooting Course in the classroom and at the range. Topics include teaching students how to hold a Shotgun, Shotgun stances, parts of a shotgun. How to tell the difference between shotgun ammunition and which is best to use.
During the NRA Instructor Training Course, you will receive from your Training Counselor the NRA Trainers Guide, the appropriate NRA Instructor Candidate Packet which includes the course outlines and lesson plans for the disciplines you wish to teach, the appropriate NRA basic course student packet which includes the handbook, certificates, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and other materials used in NRA basic courses.

NRA Basic Instructor Training opens with an exercise on "How to Introduce a Speaker" designed as an icebreaker. You're paired with another Instructor Candidate, spend a few minutes in exchanging information, and introduce each other to the class. Immediately you start learning how to talk on your feet while we teach you how to offer useful praise and constructive suggestions.
