Learn the fundamentals of firearms safety by attending the NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting Course offered by Level 1 Firearms Safety and Training.

This is an introductory firearm safety and training course-not a marksmanship class! We recommend this class for those who are new to firearms and who are interested specifically in rifles. This class introduces students to a wide variety of rifles, actions, and operations (unlike FIRST STEPS which focuses on a
single
rifle). Extensive training and in-depth safety principles are stressed including the NRA rules for safe firearms handling. The class offers instruction in all facets of firearm ownership including safe gun handling, rifle parts, components, operations, ammunition, range safety rules, shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing, and kneeling positions. Continued opportunities for skill development and competition shooting is discussed. Minimum 22LR rifle is required; scope optional but strongly recommended.

This is an extremely challenging but fun course which trains the student for topics which are specific to

personal protection

while away from home

.
Students who attend this class have the opportunity to train with their concealed hip holster or concealed purse, to be exposed to several variations of concealed carry techniques, and to practice presenting their firearm in a safe and efficient manner.The course covers multiple advanced concealed carry positions, stances, and strategies to prevail during a life threatening encounter.


The standard class offers opportunities to build on the essential knowledge and skills that must be mastered to carry, store, and use a firearm efficiently outside the home. After the classroom instruction, students can plan on shooting approximately 225 rounds of ammunition at the range to practice new skills taught during the class as well as additional training for improving their target acquisition.
 

This class is for responsible adults who posses the defensive pistol skills presented in the

NRA Personal Protection in the Home course

. Students must understand the basic legal concepts related to the use of firearms in self defense. Students must know and observe basic gun safety practices and principles that are used in defensive situations.

strategies to their defence training. This course is conducted
entirely at the range
, includes approximately 150 additional rounds of ammunition and takes roughly 5-hours to complete.

Advanced shooting stances from the two handed Isosceles, Weaver, sitting, prone, kneeling, cover and concealment, weak and strong arm shooting, one-handed shooting positions. Practice drills include: challenging target requirements, timed shooting events, low-light and dusk conditions; using your back-up pistol, what to do "if"... Extensive discussion and demonstration on personal defense strategies to regain control of a pistol during a close combat scenario. This is an advanced course that builds skills for the Level 1

Complete Course Description:
The NRA Range Safety Officer program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally-recognized range safety officer certification. NRA Range Safety Officers are people who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.

This course does not encompass the functions and responsibilities of a Range Officer, who conducts NRA competition shooting events as defined by Rule 11.5 of the NRA Rule Books.

NRA Range Safety Officers must be 21 years of age or older.

This is an intermediate training class, therefore we ask all students to attend and pass the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course or our Level 1 Basic Pistol Course. This Personal Protection Class Series takes you beyound the basic operations of firearms and introduces students to advanced shooting techniques and positions, legal considerations, situational awareness, and more.
